Currently, social economy continues to develop, people’s living standards is rising, environmental pollution caused by the growing fuel consumption in industries is getting worse, as an energy-saving generation technology with high energy efficiency, less impact on the environment, good economic benefit and both electricity and heating, cogeneration units are gradually charged with system peaking. As the heating unit can not only generate electricity but also supply heat, this paper studies system peaking operation mode of units through heat storage device to adjust the heating peak load and pull the coupling between the heat and electrical load in the case that the peaking load of units in the grid is not affected, and takes the actual operating dataes of220MW generation units as an analyzing example and calculates thermal economy, to explore the feasibility of the program. In the case, firstly, this paper makes a system peaking operation mode of the cogeneration units with heat storage device, which is to store surplus heat at night for filling heating deficiencies during the day in the case of no affect on electrical load of units, and then calculates each parameter through thermal system variable condition calculation method when the units with heat storage device are running, and finally calculates and compares thermal economic indicators of the whole power plant. The results show that the operating mode is not enough economic that the units with heat storage device are running under low parameters and low load in the summer to adjust electrical load and ease heat load, it is suitable to run in the winter for the units with high parameters, it can reduce coal consumption rate and coal consumption, improve thermal efficiency of the whole power plant. In short, the cogeneration units with the heat storage device can adjust and balance the electrical load and heat load, reduce the effects on life of the system equipments owing to frequent fluctuations of unit conditions in power peaking operating, it is conducive to safe operation of units, and to some extent, can improve the economic efficiency of power plant operation.
