Study On The Overall Layouts Of High-speed Railway Passenger Stations

This thesis theoretically analyzed and summarized the fundamental functions, space constitution and main types of high-speed railway passenger stations, and empirically studied overall layout of high-speed railway passenger stations from such aspects as content, impact factors, the core principles, basic requirements, layout modes and so on. Based on on-site investigations of typical high-speed train (TGV) stations on French new high-speed railway lines, through the analysis of construction mechanism, design background, concepts, principles, strategies, the formation root of these TGV stations has been explored, and with case study researches by using induction and analogy methods, the characteristics, rules and trends of the overall layout of French High-speed train stations has been derived.The followings are the findings of the above-mentioned studies. The content of the overall layout planning study of the high-speed train passenger stations is to determine an appropriate scale and space combination pattern of the three basic function parts-"convergence space","Station Building" and "Train yard". On the one hand, viewed from urban planning, overall layout of the station is to find the right way to link the passenger station with its urban surrounding environment and the railway lines; on the other hand, viewed from architecture, it is to determine the fundamental space pattern of passenger station and to work as the basis and frame of the station architectural design. Overall layout of passenger station is an important link phase of implementation from the station planning to its architectural design.The core principle of the overall layout of high-speed railway passenger stations is to make the station to be "fast distribution","easy transfer" and "integration with the surrounding and urban development". Many factors that come from such three aspects as high-speed railway line, station site and passenger movement need to be taken into account to determine the overall layout of high-speed railway passenger station.Although the overall layouts of high-speed railway passenger stations have the same core principles and basic requirements, and their fundamental design concepts and major trends are also tend to be the same, they still have their own different characteristics due to different country conditions, different high-speed railway systems, different local situations and different traditions. In France, the fundamental feature and core design principle of the overall layouts of high-speed railway passenger stations is to find the tourists service-oriented, the most economical, most useful and the simplest form by continuously doing research and striving for innovation, and the new trend of the overall layout design of TGV station is to explore new overall layout modes and the concepts and technologies in Ecological Architecture.The overall layouts of TGV stations are derived from French society, culture and high-speed railway system, but their design concepts, methods, approaches, and techniques are worthy to be learned, especially the design theory on city movement and the implantation way of the core principle. The national conditions, railway managements and high-speed railway construction patterns of China are all different from France and are much more complicated, so in-depth and careful scientific researches need to be done in order to get the best solution which is suitable for the Chinese context and background.
