Along of completion of more and more high-rise buildings, designing better structures plans which optimize force structure and minimize economical expenses has always been the direction most of structural designers working in. Traditional structural design, which based on past experience or reference to a similar design, not only severely constrained structural designers’ideas but also could not achieve an optimal design. Started from existing structure optimization theory and optimal design point of view, this article studies how to optimize the design of frame-shear wall structure that is commonly used in high-rise buildings.After introducing principles of collaborative work between frame portion and shear wall portion during frame-shear wall structure, as well as calculation method of frame shear stiffness and the differential equations result of articulated structural system under the inverted triangular distribution loads, this article discusses stiffness range of frame-shear wall based on large amount of previous practical experience at the first place. Secondly, use λ, which represent shear walls and frame stiffness ratio, as a design variables to construct a objective function that minimize effect of seismic loads. Using complex method and MATLAB programming language, calculate the optimal stiffness characteristic values of the objective function. After thickness and quantity of frame-shear wall calculated by the stiffness ratio formula, the best solution of optimization frame-shear wall structure is carried out. By substituting calculation parameters into the optimization procedure by a specific project, an optimal stiffness ratio value is carried out and a result about number and arrangement of shear wall would calculate by SATWE, a structural analysis software. By comparing and further analysis on the results calculated before and after the engineering optimization calculation, a conclusion of number and arrangement of shear wall in frame-shear wall structure.In practical engineering background, this article conduct a research on optimization design of frame-shear wall structure to have an useful reference in practical work about optimization structure design in the future.
