Frame-shear wall structure has both advantages of the frame structure and shear wall structure in that the frame structure bears the vertical loads, while the shear wall structure bears the horizontal loads, and it is widely used in high-rise buildings. Hainan, especially Haikou, is an area with high seismic fortification intensity, coupled with the current economic situation, in the structural design of high-rise building, the frame-shear wall structure has naturally become the preferred structure type. While as the international tourism promoting and the special economic development in Hainan, the need for high-rise building is more and more. However, the number, the layout and the suitable height of shear wall embody the economic performance and the seismic performance of frame-shear wall structure. Therefore, this paper aims to optimize the design of the shear wall from the above three aspects.In order to optimize the shear wall in frame-shear wall structure, this paper firstly analyzes the synergies of the frame-shear wall structure, creates synergies equations with the stiffness characteristic value, derives the displacement solution and internal force distribution curves under the inverted triangular load, then puts forward the optimization model of shear walls’optimal stiffness; Secondly the author uses wallboard unit model to simulate, analyse and study optimal layout of the shear wall, then gives stiffness matrix and total stiffness matrix of the improved wallboard unit model unit, establishes an optimization method under the drift angle constraint; At last this paper explores the application of the interrupt shear wall to the height.The optimization method which is mentioned above is in line with the design requirements, is also checked its feasibility. On the basis of the optimization method, the author applies MATLAB to draw up program of optimal stiffness and optimal layout of the shear wall, then tests it by the software PKPM which is built by Chinese Academy Research. All the results indicate that the program is effective for designers to calculate quickly in the preliminary design stage and adjust the design. At the same time the economic indicator is better in that it can reduce the upper part weight of the structure and the cost of the project.
