Based on the racing car which was involved in the Formula SAE of China (FSC) of ourschool,this paper optimize and match the parameters of intake and exhaust structure of theengine of the racing car.Because of the intake system what was made in original equipmentmanufacturer don’t conform to the rules of racing car manufacture, and the exhaust pipe oforiginal equipment manufacturer is bad for reduce the height of the vehicle barycenter. Thedifferent driving conditions have the different engine output performance requirements. Forthe Acceleration Event and the Skid-pad Event of the FSC competitive event, the engine mustprovide sufficient torque in the Acceleration Event, but the excessive torque cause lateral slipin the Skid-pad Event. In practical applications, the engine Inconvenience to install differentintake and exhaust structure in different event, so the optimization can only with powerperformance enough objectives by optimizing and matching the parameters of intake andexhaust structure. But it engine run different electric control scheme is very convenient, sothis paper calculate and match electric control parameters, according to the results ofcalculation,we calibrate the engine electronic control parameters applying to different drivingconditions.This paper introduce the initial design of engine intake and exhaust, the calibration of thesensors and actuators, data communication, ECU software settings and so on. After gettingthe performance output from the initial design, validate the engine simulated model which isestablished by GT-Power. Through model analysis the influence to the engine powerperformance from the structure parameters such as different length of the intake manifold,different volume of the plenum, different structure of the exhaust pipe etc. Then optimize thedesign of the intake and exhaust structure.The GT-Power model analysis the influence to the engine power performance from thecontrol parameters such as mixed gas concentration, ignition timing. According to the resultsof the simulation,we can got a way what realize different engine power performance throughadjusting electric control parameters. And we can calibrate faster. In the Acceleration Event, according to the analysis results, the engine need to providesufficient torque. Based on the design of the actual driving car transmission, establish theGT-Drive simulated model in the linear acceleration condition. We will import the differentengine output to the model and calculate the time-consuming of the75m Linear AccelerationEvent, then we can obtain target value of the mixed gas concentration and relationship of thetorque and ignition timing by calculated result. Thus,the engine experiment have had moredirection, and obtain the match calibrated data of the Linear Acceleration Event.In the Skid-pad Event, according to the analysis of the cornering characteristics of tiresin the racing and calculated result of the dynamics under this driving conditions,we can getmaximum torque curve.And based on the influence relationship of the engine powerperformance and control parameters what include mixed gas concentration and ignitiontiming. It we can make that the engine output performance is suited for requirement throughadjusting control parameters, and get the match calibrated data of the under the Skid-padEvent.
