The construction vibration control is a new quake-proof technology in Civil engineering, which has many advantages over the traditional seismic design method, and a lot of progresses in practical engineering application are made. In this paper, the application of viscoelastic damper in the frame structure is one kind of research on the passive energy dissipation technology. The viscoelastic damper has many advantages such as its simple structure, convenience, practical property, it can be used in various fields such as reducing wind vibration of various engineering structure, aseismic and control of seismic responses, the reinforcement of structure, repairing after an earthquake, etc.Strengthened story can enhance structural lateral stiffness and improve the structural seismic performance, but the setting of strengthened layer makes the structure stiffness mutation, under the seismic action, necessary structural internal force caused by mutation and the overall structure of force transmission way change, which makes structural damage areas prone to near the strengthened story, forming the weak layer. In order to reduce adverse influence on the structure, this paper has carried out some research work. Paper discusses the main contents and research results are as follows:(1) The mechanical property and hysteretic mode of the viscoelastic damper are discussed. The set with viscoelastic dampers is proposed to solve strengthen story structure on the negative impact of the earthquake, and the calculation model of viscoelastic damping device and basic assumptions are established.(2) This paper, a40layer high-level frame-tube structure as the main research object, the structural analysis model is established using finite element analysis software SAP2000, the same building in three different schemes (without strengthened stories and damper structure, the strengthened stories structure, viscoelastic damper structure) are compared, the results show that the damper can effectively control structure, and significantly reduce interlayer displacement Angle of structure and layer shear mutation degree, the adverse impacts on the structure strengthening story is improved.(3) Through calculation and analysis, setting up the framework of the viscoelastic damper-core tube structure can decrease the base shear and bending moment, and have certain shock effect.(4) For the framework of the viscoelastic damper-core tube structure, considering the different arrangement of damper have an effect vibration characteristics of structure, layer shear and so on, in order to achieve a good damping effect, dampers should be put at the appropriate floor.
