With the development of distributed power source in recent years, then themicro grid has been developed, which makes the grid operation mode has changed. Inaddition, with the development of smart grid, a large number of grid infrastructureprojects were put into operation, power grid renovation project was updated frequently.Which make the original relay protection settings cannot meet the requirements ofprotection equipment for grid in the new operation mode and operation environment.With the development of multi-agent technology (MAS), MAS has been widely usedin various fields of power system. In the field of protection engineering, to realize theautomation of power grid fault diagnosis, the MAS has been used to integrate existingintelligent system analyzing and processing the date collected by SCADA and DERsystem. The MAS as called the protection engineering diagnosis agent (PEDA). However,due to the relay protection settings have been modified constantly, the PEDA systemcannot be used online.In order to solve these problems, improve the security and stability of power gridoperation, the protection diagnosis multi-agent system and the protection settings onlinetracking system based on the service tracking technology were proposed. These were onthe basis of further studying the PEDA system and the setting group service tracking.This paper’s main work reflects in:Firstly, the protection settings calculation principle is studied, then the protection ofinformation model and function logical are established.Secondly, the multi-agent technology is studied, then, the protection diagnosismulti-agent system is designed, in detail, the system’s architecture is constructed and theagent communication related communicative act, content language and messageinteraction process are designed.Thirdly, the protection settings online tracking system based on the service trackingtechnology is designed. The system is regarded as protection setting provider agent inprotection diagnosis multi-agent system, which online provides the latest protectionsettings modified and start-used by relay protection equipment. The protection settinggroup service tracking unit, in IED equipment of bay level, is built, which real-timemonitors the change of the attribute parameters of protection setting group control block,generates and sends message of service tracking report. The transfer unit is built, whichrealizes the coordination around the IEC61850standard and the FIPA standard, solves the protocol conflict issue between the substation automation equipment layer andmulti-agent system with computer management.The technical proposal is verified by experiments. The experiment system ofprotection setting group service tracking is projected, which can realize the serviceparameters tracking of SelectActiveSG, SelectEditSG, GetSGCBValues etc, and thenobtain the protection settings. The simulation experiment system of the protectiondiagnosis multi-agent is planned, which can realize the message interaction processbetween the agents in the protection diagnosis multi-agent.
