At present in the city power grid construction, application of GIS substation hasbeen very mature. In this paper, Binhe220kV GIS substation design is the main researchsubject. The electric primary and secondary systems is designed. To improve theoperation and management level, this station is designed to be intelligent substation.This paper presents a set of electric primary system plan and a novel type ofsemi-indoor GIS substation layout pattern. The feature of this pattern is that maintransformers and capacitors are arranged outdoors, and other voltage level devices arearranged indoor.220kV outlet arrangement is optimized. For effectively reducing thearea of the station area, overhead and cable outlet is designed for220kV outlet.A type of GIS intelligent substation is proposed in this paper, which includes overalldesign, equipment configuration and networking. This paper presents some of theadvanced applications of intelligent substation, include integrated fail-safe unit,programming operation, on-line monitoring technology, comprehensive fault informationanalysis and decision and station control system.
