Desiccant roter, a novel air-conditioning system, can regenerate itself within heatpump conbined with desiccant rotor air conditioning system without additional renewableenergy.Silica gel rotor can dehumidify the indoor air as well as remove contaminantsalong with residual wet due to its purification. The dehumidification is completed under drycondition to avoid the growth of mold. This desiccant rotor conbined with heat pumt airconditioning system can improve indoor air quality and supply a more comfortable andheathy indoor environment.The introductions of double desiccant rotor and doubleheat pum air conditioningsystem and the single rotor and single heat pump air conditioning system were described inthis pape, and performance tests of single rotor and single heat pump under summercondition have been done. Further theoretical and experimental study of double rotor anddouble heat pump system needs to be done due to its much higher requirements formatching of the two evaporotor’s heat transfer area, matching of heat pump’s refrigerantsand experimental operation.The process of single rotor and single heat pump air-conditioning system is: themixed air (in a ratio of outdoor fresh air and indoor return air) after dehumidified by silcagel rotor is cooled by evaporator down to the state point of air supply. Meanwhile outdoorfresh air is heated by condenser to regenerate the rotor without any other auxiliary heatsource.Based on the energy and mass conservation theory, one channel in rotor as researchsubject, the energy and mass conservation and transfer equations have been established. Byvirtue of MATLAB program, four control equations, supplem entary equations andcorresponding boundary conditions, the numerical solution of rotor will be arquired.According to climate characteristics of Tianjin, a test unit of single rotor and singleheat pump coupled system was built and its performance has been tested in a variety ofconditions which outdoor air temperature changes from28to40℃and humidity changesfrom8to22g/kg, all with fresh air in the mixed ratio of20%. The results show thatmixed air dehumidified by silca gel rotor and cooled by evaporator will meet the supplydemands with temperature stabilized at about19℃in most conditions. The average COPof heat pump is2.73. The average dehumidification rate of0.33is an ideal data. The veragetemperature of regeneration air is62.48℃after heated by condenser. It is enough toregenerate rotor.
