The railway-tunneling gauge parameters detection is significant for the safety of railwaytraffic. The railway-tunneling gauge is one kind of structure approaching gauges on railway.It is a profile which is closing to the cross-section contour of the vehicle and perpendicular tothe route plane. To ensure the safety of train operation, It is not allowed to invade this contour,in accordance with the relevant provisions, except for the equipment which must be in contactwith the locomotive and the locomotive itself. In recent years, the running speed of China’srailway trains has been improved continuously, however, our means of detection for tunnelgauge are still relatively backward. There are many issues have not been solved, such as theslow detection process and labor-intensive. The dissertation comes up with a kind of railwaygauge ranging detection system, which adopts laser range finder as the main method, aftercomprehensive researching the detection technologies of the railway tunnel and metro gauge,both in domestic and international.The railway-tunneling gauge detection system centers on the industrial personalcomputer, collects the relative tunnel clearance information by laser scanning device, gatherstrain mileage and other information by the single chip microcomputer system, and thentransmit the collected information to computer for RS232,serial communicateon port. Thesystem uses LabVIEW language, developed by the United States NI company, for systemprogramming, combines the scan datum of the tunnel section with mileage information,displays the real-time scanning images of the cross section and the gauge situation on the host,then checks the results of the scanning against the standard gauge datum in the configurationfile and determines whether the invasion boundary occurs. If there is something invading thegauge, the system would alarm ring and store the over-limit results in the recording document.The exceed-limit results can be searched at the end of the detection. In addition, the systemmakes some analysis on the factors which influnce measuring accuracy, such as device error,the displacement of the inspetion vehicle, car body vibration of the inspetion vehicle, and soon. It also proposes some relevant appropriate measures to improve the measurementaccuracy.Due to the limitations of experimental conditions, after design of system, experimentshave been conducted under laboratory conditions only and failed to be carried out in a formaltesting environment. After making reference to the existing tunnel detection technologies, thisdissertation focuses on proposing a kind of railway-tunneling gauge detection system basedon a new measuring coordinates. The detection process is simple and the the test results canget a better display.
