Twin towers or towers connected structure,as its name implies,refers to two ormore towers by one or more connectors are connected to form the conjoinedstructure.The connector not only facilitates contact between towers; But also can givepeople a kind of visual effect, and gives the building a unique charm, at the same time,the connecting part haves good visual effect. Because setting up the connection body tothe whole structure has so many advantages, and wins the people’s favor.This paper by using the finite element software SAP2000V15respectively buildsthe model that the connection number, location and connection mode are different, andthat the axial rigidity of the tower and the number of floor is different, then analyzes andcompare the natural vibration characteristics of each model. and then uses modaldecomposition response spectrum method for each model to analysis the action ofearthquake, analysis displacement, interlayer displacement angle of each model underearthquake, The results: Under the action of earthquake, as the position of connectionbody is higher, the connection effect connection body become stronger, but the overallreverse of tower is greater;the lower the connecting position is, the bigger the torsionalcomponent of tower around each center is. Secondly, The displacement suddenlybecome smaller in the layers that set up the connector, it illustrates that the verticalstiffness mutates in this floor, in the process of design we should pay attention to this.Through the analysis of two towers connected structure of different stiffness, Find thatat the same vibration mode, the two tower has different vibration mode, the smaller oneis complex and large, in addition under the seismic action, The deformation of the towerwhose stiffness is smaller is bigger, the connecting force is bigger. At last,Through thetime history analysis to a tower and connected structure model, The analysis shows: inthe x direction vertex displacement and acceleration time history curve of maximumvalue of the monomer structure is greater than the conjoined structure, that meansconnecting body’s setting up effectively reduced the displacement and acceleration ofthe structure.
