| Polypropylene (PP) used for automobile bumper in China are usually toughened by elastomer. Toughness of PP can improved effectively by blended with elastomer including EPDM, EPR, POE, SBS via twin-screw extruder, but there are some disadvantages in this method. For example, impact strength of toughening PP is improved to some extent while other performances decrease, such as tensile strength〠flexural modulusã€heat deflection temperature. The process of production is complex to make the control of the quality unstable, and the production cost is high for using too much elastomer. Recently PP blended with poly(ethylene-co-propylene) directly via in situ polymerization in reactor is applied to automobile bumper at abroad and the copolymer with the balance of stiffness and toughness were produced via this method.Automobile bumper special raw material named PP K9015were developed via in situ polymerization method in reactor by YangZi Petrochemical Company (YPC) for the first time in China.In this thesis, production method, manufacture parameters and the art of control of the process of PP K9015were analyzed and optimized. The PP K9015can be produced in a long period and with full load in the plant while many obstacles in the process were resolved successfully.K9015was characterized and the results reveal that K9015is block copolymer and its melting point is measured using DSC. The mechanical properties of K9015were studied and the results show that low temperature impact strength of K9015is much better than its competitive products in China and is close to products at abroad. |
