ABSTRACT:With the rapid development of our social economy, the number of motor vehicles is increasing, and the resulting flow of urban traffic congestion is also seriously increasing. In order to alleviate traffic pressure, our country has adopted a series of effective measures, the widely use of Intelligent Transportation System has played a key role in those measures, and the VMS (Variable Message Signs) as an important part of the Intelligent Transportation System, its effectiveness is becoming increasingly large. In this paper, the research work mainly revolves around the methods of road traffic Variable Message Signs setting locations in Beijing.Firstly, this paper summarizes the definition and classification of VMS guidance system, and based on the analysis of the VMS guidance system information content and its generation to given the flow of VMS guidance; Through the analysis of the present situation of the VMS status in Beijing, summarize the VMS status principles of Beijing, and based on this, analyse the influence factors of the VMS setting locations in Beijing;Through analyzing different information demand of induction, is given the research of the VMS points in this paper, and according to the analysis of VMS original data and determined the stationing indicators, collecting and processing the traffic state data. Secondly, in the study on VMS points method, this paper introduces a kind of the VMS location method based on Grey Situation Decision, by analyzing the concept and principle of the method, gives the steps of Grey Situation Decision method, and take an example of Beijing regional network, verify and analysis on the effectiveness and practicability of this method of setting locations. On the basis of the research on the existing method of VMS setting locations, this paper establishes optimization model which is as the goal of the VMS utility maximization, and using Simulate Anneal Arithmetic to solve it, then Verify and analysis of the characteristics and advantages of this method.Finally, by the principle of accuracy and reliability, compares and analysis the two kinds of methods of VMS setting locations, found that based on Simulate Anneal Arithmetic method which has put forward in this paper is better than the using Grey Situation Decision method of the VMS setting locations.
