Traditional houses is the product of long-term adaptation to the local natural andsocial environment. Different kinds of region climate adaptation skills and techniquesare formed after continuously adjustments in practical applications. Huizhoutraditional houses, which lies in southern area of Anhui province, is outstanding inindoor environment creating. The patio which is the most active elements in the spaceof Huizhou traditional houses plays an important role in indoor airflow and naturallighting.Through filed research of Huizhou traditional houses, elements which influencesthe indoor environment are gained. Site selection of village, water system design, streets and the space of patio crate favorable conditions for indoor environment. Filedmeasurements of indoor and outdoor environment of several representative oftraditional houses are carried out to analysis the present situation of indoorenvironment. The results show that The envelope of traditional houses do best inpreventing heat in summer, but do worse in preventing cold. Average speed of windreached0.75meters per second in transition season, thus natural ventilation is takenadvantage for ventilation and cooling during the summer. Daylight factor of the hallare more than2percent, which meets “Green Building Rating Standards” for indoordaylight factor requirement.Shu Ren Tang is taken as the object to research the indoor lighting and thermalenvironment of it by using Ecotect. The results show that patio and flexible partitionplay an important role in indoor lighting. Minimum indoor daylight factor is2.1percent, average indoor daylight factor is10.6percent and lighting uniformity is0.198, indicating that the daylighting of traditional houses is not uniform. The layerbetween out wall and wood has a good effect in preventing heat. Heat gain throughbuilding envelop account for5.5percent of total heat in summer, while heat lossthrough building envelop account for51.1percent of total heat loss in winter, indicating that the envelope of traditional houses do worst in preventing cold inwinter.A parallel building group consisting of three buildings are taken as the object toresearch the indoor and outdoor of wind environment under atmosphere boundarylayer by using Airpak. The results show that pressure on the side of windward isbetween1.3and1.6Pa. With the increasing of house height, the capacity of naturalventilation increased, and the maximum of wind pressure on the side of windwardappears at2/3of the building height. Pressure on the side of leeward is betweennegative0.5and0Pa. Wind pressure difference between windward and leewardreached2Pa, Creating a good condition for indoor natural ventilation. Shu Ren Tangis taken as the object to research wind environment under three kinds of simulationconditions. The results show that patio has a good effect on hot ventilation at night.Through the measurements and simulation analysis above, it can be find thatbuilding towards, different ventilation modes, indoor cold source arrangement have agood effect on creating indoor natural ventilation. Using patio and and flexiblepartition to create natural light and flowing air layer between out wall and wood to prevent heat. Meanwhile, due to the small window on outwall, is not conductive to theformation of draft, resulting poorly ventilation in bedroom and lighting uniformly. The envelope of traditional houses do worst in preventing cold in winter. For theproblems above are improved and traditional elements contribute to indoorenvironment creating are updated by changing the layout of the houses, adjustingwindow and patio size. This paper provides a theoretical basis for modern residentialarchitecture design under the situation of the new countryside in Huizhou.
