With the rapid development of our economy, the electricity demand for industrial production and domestic consumption has a sharp increase, which puts a great challenge and stress on the power system. As the hinge of electric power system, high-voltage power equipment, such as high-voltage switch, has been received much attention on its safety and stability. High-voltage power equipment malfunction is mainly caused by the high temperature of joint parts, that results from the long running time and large carrying capacity. If not getting timely treatment, it will affect the life-span of equipment, and even lead to the collapse of the whole system, which may cause huge economic losses for the state and the masses. Therefore, the state has introduced the relevant provisions of electric power department according to the current situation above, which require temperature checking for the switches periodically to ensure their safe operation.Currently, the major method for high-voltage power equipment temperature checking is handheld temperature detector. And only a handful of areas are still using paraffin thermometry. This method determines temperatures by observing the color change of the paraffin waxes placed on the contact. Obviously, it has a poor accuracy. Handheld temperature detectors is mainly adopting the infrared temperature measurement technology to collect the contacts’temperatures. During the whole checking, the staff need to record temperatures manually, and make the data into a data table after the detection for use and analysis. This process is not only wasting energy, taking time, at the same time, leading to the great decrease of data accuracy, especially under the current situation of high-voltage equipments becoming more and more.Based on the study of the service condition and structural features of portable thermometers both home and abroad and the structures of high-voltage power equipments at home, a new kind of intelligent thermometer which adopts infrared temperature technology image processing and u disk read-write technology is designed. The thermometer is used MSP430F149as the main processor, whose extremely low power consumption will satisfy its background. Among that, the collection of contacts’temperatures is mainly depended on the infrared temperature sensor A2TPMI334L5.5OAA120and the peripheral circuits. The identification of equipments status information is depended on image sensor OV9120and TMS320VC5509A DSP. This module uses double CPU structure. It uses the micro-controller as its logic controllers to coordinate the chips’work. The main purpose of the time module is to record the time of temperature collecting, which mainly performed by real-time chip DS1302. The u disk read-write module is to use PB375A to gather the information about time, location and temperature in the text format and store in the USB drive. Without complex artificial participation, the whole process improves work efficiency, and avoids the man-made incorrect logging or drain logging, which raises the accuracy and completeness of data.The main works completed in this paper include the design and setup of circuit hardware, the programming and burning for each module and the testing for each function module and the whole system.The hardware side mainly includes the design of temperature and time, the design of image collection hardware, the design and realization of MSP430F149and TMS320VC5509A, the design of u disk read-write unit and the design of keyboard and display. Beside that, the temperature collection module increases the design of buzzer warning. Hardware schematic diagrams are achieved in protel99.On the software side, the programming, compile, downloading and debugging of MSP430F149is completed with IAR development environment; and the programming, compile, downloading and debugging of TMS320VC5509A is completed with CCS4development environment. The program is written for each function module, and the operation of each module need the micro-controller’s interrupt response.Finally, the performance of the whole system is tested. The test contains the integrity test of location information, the precision test of temperature measuring and so on. The tests show that the system works normally and achieved the expected goal.
