As a modern freight hub, railway container center station exerts all the functions of anordinary freight transportation node, such as transporting, storing, loading, unloading, andtransferring freight in the railway network, and processing container operation information.Its operating efficiency not only relates to its own service level, but also affects the efficiencyof the whole container transport network. So, it is necessary to improve the operationefficiency of center station by means of reasonably allocating internal resources and reducingthe cost. This thesis puts its attention to the studies on the method reasonably distributing theoperation resources of container center station taking the staying time of the containers atstation as the objective and setting up a model to simulate its operations.Firstly, the functions, the layout of container center station and the resources within thestation (including loading and unloading line, the loading and unloading plan of the trains, thedoors of the center station, yard resources, loading and unloading and transportationequipment), and the operation system of the station are analyzed in this paper.Secondly, Xi’an Railway Container Center Station is taken as a example and the station’soperations are simulated by the following steps: its operation system is divided into theunloading operation subsystem and the loading operation subsystem; according to theQueuing Theory on the discrete event dynamic system, the models of unloading system andloading system are established respectively in light of the further analysis of the Xi’anRailway Container Freight Station; then the operation procedures of the station are simulatedwith ExtendSim and the output data from it are compared with the actual data. The resultverifies the reliability of the models.Finally, this paper analyzes the rail-mount container cranes, internal trucks, and frontcranes operation subsystem respectively; according to the objective function of eachsubsystem, builds a mathematical model using system analysis method; then these models arecombined into an optimization model minimizing the total time of unloading operation, whichreflects the relationship between all the resources involved in the whole period for thecontainers staying at the center station.
