Various marine resources for human beings can be obtained by the exploitating ofocean. And development of ocean has great significance for national defense.Hydraulic components play a significant role in ocean engineering. Due to its lowerfuid purchase and storage costs, lower operational costs, lower disposal costs,reduced insurance premiums, and better health and environmental compliance, thewater hydraulic system should prove to be a viable alternative in the oceandevelopment, taking an overall fnancial view in comparison with the traditional oilhydraulic system. There are several challenging issues associated with the seawaterhydraulic technology, such as the bad lubrication property, high vapor pressure, strongcausticity and low viscosity of seawater. This research has focused on the design,analysis and test of a water hydraulic piston pump.Based on the previous researches,some improvements of swash plate seawater pistonpump are proposed, including the structure improvement of sliding bearing, injectionprocess of piston hole, and heat treatment of piston, swash plate change etc.Based on piston pump flow theory analysis, the flow model of the seawater pistonpump was established in AMESim, and the results of the movement of the pistonpump and flow characteristic were obtained. The flexible models of pistons, pistonsleeves and shaft have been established in ANSYS. Then soft-rigid hybrid model wasbuilt up with software ADAMS, and the force of key parts and the stress state havebeen drawn out by the co-simulation.Using the stress-strength interference model, some important components’ reliabilitywere analyzed including sliding bearing pairs, valve plate pair, piston-hole pairs,sliding slipper and swash plate pairs and pistons’ neck strength. Then the systemreliability theory is adopted to calculate the reliability of piston pump, the reliabilityof pump is99.25%.The seawater hydraulic piston pump prototype is fabricated and tested. The no-loadflow rate has reached the theoretical value. The volumetric efficiency was70%whenthe pump was loaded at14MPa. And a further research of the pump should becontinued.
