Research On A New Type Of Voltage Transformer Used On Electric Locomotives

Trend of China’s railway is electrification and high power as most countries. Thenumber and possession of Electric locomotive increased year by year, followed by sorts ofproblems. Transformer is an important high voltage equipment on the electric locomotiveto implement traction network voltage monitoring, energy metering and protection.Electric locomotive use the traditional electromagnetic transformer, but the traditionaltransformer has the major defects that small dynamic range, ferro-resonance and outputcan’t short-circuit, and when used in a changeable environment for a long time, may bedamaged, cracking and even explode. Because the hidden danger, that in dire need of newdetection method to replace the traditional way for the safe operation.To the issue that resonance of traditional voltage transformer used on electriclocomotives will cause overvoltage while the Locomotives passing the Articulated phaseinsulator, a new design is presented in the paper. The applicant puts forward a new typeCapacitor Divider to replace the existing electromagnetic, greatly reduce the overvoltageand improve the insulation reliability. This paper studies the material and structure’influence on the accuracy of Capacitive divider with coaxial structure, and the designprinciple is presented. In terms of power supply for circuit worked in high voltageenvironment, A pneumatic power system is designed and tested by theoretical analysis inthis paper, which has the outstanding advantages such as safe and reliable, electricalisolation. The method uses optical fiber to transmit digital signals and pneumatic power,achieve full electrical isolation, ensure the safety of equipment and staff. The tests provethat the new design has an excellent performance and could meet the demand oflocomotive.
