With the unceasing development of social economy and science and technology, thepower system has evolved from the traditional independent closed structure to complexsocial network. Through the interconnection between regional power grids to optimize theallocation of resources, it will become the future development trend of national power grid.In this context, when the weak points of the system get out of order, and if with no timelycorrective measures, it will cause the fault chain expansion, resulting in a large areablackout.As an important part of connecting two same region in power grid, transmissionsection embodies the weakness of power network. Its security and stability has a directimpact in the safe and stable operation of the system. So in the actual operation of thepower system, it is usually the focus of monitoring and controlling for the power gridoperation experts. However, the existing research on transmission section has littletheorization and the systematization level is not high, the search method of transmissionsection is also with a weak utility. Besides, the research on transmission security is toolittle. In view of these above problems, this paper mainly conducts studies from thefollowing three aspects.First of all, it makes a systematized and theorized sorting on the transmission sectionof the existing research. Then it sums up4kinds of methods for the existing literatures onrecognition of transmission section. In addition, for the importance of transmissionsection’s security to the safe and reliable operation of the power system, it gives a detailedinstructions on stability analysis of transmission section.Secondly, based on the electric betweenness model of complex network theory, thispaper puts forward a new method by using the line electric betweenness values to identifykey branches in the system, and then forming the key transmission sections through thesekey branches. It draws into the practical system partition model of the state and key sectionranking method, establishes a set of electric betweenness search key transmission section system. The feasibility and validity of this method is verified through simulation.Finally, combined with the subject of research in this paper, it is based on the initialgrid and target grid of future planning period in our country "Sanhua" UHV grid. Throughusing PSD-BPA power system simulation programs, this paper focuses on the safety andstability of out-section of Erdos/Shanxi power base, the safety and stability of entrysection of East China Power Grid, and the external DC section of western SichuanProvince. The results of this research has important reference value for making controlmeasures in transition period, which can ensure the safe and reliable operation of the powersystem.
