At present, extensive bridge seismic damages have occurred in bridge ergineeringbecause that no aseismatic fuction bearings are widely used in our country, such as platerubber bearings, pot rubber bearings and teflon skateboarding bearings. The clllapse ofbridges will endanger life and property safety of the persons on the bridges when theearthquake happens. After that, resuce workers can not help the victims in the disastertimely because of the broken traffic route.cracking, and that will result in more casualties.So it is very important to do some research on double spherical aseismic bearing effectson seismic performance of bridges.Reviewing the documents about bridge seismic design both at home and abroad, theauthor summarized the seismic principles, analysis methods, structural characteristics andseismic mechanisms of double spherical aseismic bearings.Seismic element models of a interchange bridge by Midas Civil were established tostudy the effects of double spherical aseismic bearing on mitigating bending moment ofthe bottom pier columns cross sections and the top pier foundation cross sections, usingdynamic time history analysis and response spectrum analysis. The differences betweenthem indicate that seismic responses of the bridge setting double spherical aseismicbearing were greatly reduced.The author also cacullated the force of double spherical aseismic bearings under thenormal using load and the action of earthquake to make sure that the performance ofdouble spherical aseismic bearing under normal using load is similar to the performancesof normal rubber bearing, and double spherical aseismic bearing can disspate energy byallowing large diaplacements.Hysteresis curve of double spherical aseismic bearing was also created using Midasto evaluate the energy disspitation effects of double spherical aseismic bearing. The fullcurve indicated that double spherical aseismic bearing was suitable for the seismic design of continuous girder bridges by depleting energy.
