The development of science and technology makes the highly automated,high-precision manufacturing technology be constantly applied in the equipmentmanufacturing industry. Large equipment manufacturing usually manufactures largesection first, and then joins them together into the whole equipment. Segmentedmanufacturing process will inevitably produce error. The error accumulates in theprocess of joining together which leads to a decline of precision of equipmentmanufacturing. Therefore, the measurement technology of large equipment section isthe prerequisite of application of precision manufacturing technology. It is also theguarantee to realize high precision equipment manufacturing.The theodolite is a precision angle measuring instrument which is widely used inmeasurement of large size in industrial locale. On the basis of traditional measuringmethod using theodolite, according to the segmented data model file, and addingvisual guide mechanism, this paper proposes a theodolite automation measurementsystem based on the theory data model and the visual guiding technique, which aimsto be applied in digital segment measuring of large equipment. The new measuringmethod in this paper implement the automation precise measurement of the key pointof large equipment segments by guiding the theodolite initially using subsectiondesign data model file, and guiding the theodolite precisely with the help of the visualguide subsystem consisting of a high resolution camera and a high precision turntable,and the encoder to locate the target. The main works of this paper is as follows:1. Studies on the background of the domestic and foreign large-scale equipmentmanufacturing industry and the development of the advanced technology of largeequipment manufacturing. Combining with the development of digital precisionmeasurement technology of large equipment manufacturing, and using the data modeland visual guidance technology, this paper researched an automation measurementsystem, which aims to be applied in the field of digital measuring of large equipmentsegmentation.2. Researched on the docking process of large equipment segmentation, the basiccomposition and principle of the visual guiding theodolite measuring system for docking process and the realization process of the automatic measurement and theevaluation method of measurement error.3. Analysed the initial guidance method of the measuring system based on thetheoretical data model, which includes the coordinate transformation model andmethod, the rotary table guide model and calculation theodolite angle method usingdata model file.4. Researched on the design of active luminous targets for precision guide,characteristics of the targets, the extraction methods of laser spot and accuratelyguided interpolation scanning model.5. Designed the experimental system to verify the methods which are used in thispaper.
