SMW is a new method for foundation pit supporting, which is imported from Japan.Due to lack of experience in engineering, design and calculation theory is not mature,machinery and equipment lag behind and so on, the application of SMW in ourcountry is still in the initial stage. In this paper, main work is to research the designand calculation theory of SMW method, on the basis of Tianjin three cotton spinningfactory district project, according to engineering practice and academic method, TheSMW method and the concrete grouting pile method were compared in all aspects,The SMW method has remarkable advantages and is worthy of popularizingIn this paper, the concepts of foundation pit supporting are introduced, whichsystematically introduces the characteristics of the foundation pit engineering andfoundation pit supporting technology method.This article focuses on the calculation method of retaining structure constructing bySMW method. This article also introduce one specific project which is built by SMWmethod to evaluate the design and calculation method.Besides, according to Tianjin three cotton spinning factory district project, from theperspectives of internal force, cost, environmental protection, compared the SMWmethod and concrete filling pile method, especially, the analysis of internal force usethe FLAC software. The results show that the SMW method with reasonable stress,low cost, little impact on environment.Believe that SMW method will play a bigger role in foundation pit project of tianjinand soft soil area and solve more difficulties in foundation pit supporting.
