Most of the fujian coastal areas along the highway are littoral, liman clashdeposition area. A thickness of soft clay are distributed along the highway.Foundationdeformation and subsidence of the soft clay is the main reason to instability andundermine of the highway. Thus, whether to study the engineering properties of softclay foundation along, not only affect investment in the project but also will directlyaffect the highway performance and project quality.In soft clay engineering, there are major three types of uncertainty: spatialvariability of soft clay, measurement error, model transformation error. In which, spatialvariation of soft clay from the variation in space soft clay site, measurement errordepending on errors of personnel or equipment, model transformation error run outwhen the soft clay parameters, achieving from site or laboratory test, are converted fromthe theoretical or empirical formula. In these uncertainties, the spatial variability of clayhave the greatest impact. For geotechnical engineering design and analysis, how toclearly describe the soft clay spatial variability of physical and mechanical parameters isessential. Researchers have been studying through the investigation, to master the law ofthe spatial variation of soft clay.This paper base on lab test results and in-situ test results of the soft clay in thenumber of coastal areas of fujian. According to the soft clay distribution and regionaldifferences, the soft clay divide into basin and the coastal type. Then make a regressionanalysis to physical and mechanical indices of tow soft clay types. Also, drawingRelationship diagram and getting regression equation. Then analyzing spatialdistribution of two types soft clay. Especially analyzing spatial distribution of physical indicators and vane shear strength,and drawing the general conclusions.Finally, comparing the differences of physical and mechanical indicators of soft claysubgrade before and after the Fuquan highway widening. Summing up the universal law,to guide the future treatment of soft clay foundation.
