Due to earthquake activity in recent years, that has devastation effect to the humanbeing, modern design methods should take into account this possibility. That is whyresearch on the seismic behavior, is become one of the most important aspects.According to developing of steel structures production procedure and high effectiveness,HSS they become widely spread in steel structures, like column, trusses. Lots ofdifferent researches were carried out, both in numerical investigations and experimentalresearch on static behaviors with different types of hollow section. One of the results ofthese studies is a modern design guide like CIDECT‘s design guide for hollow section, but less of them consider about hysteretic behavior with variation of loading procedure, like cyclic axial load or quasi-static load. This paper investigates T-type of longitudinalplate and through plate-to-hollow structural section welded connection under cyclicloading. Eight T type joint were tested under cyclic quasi–static axial loading in orderto achieve their hysteretic behavior. The detailed analysis for experimental procedureand finite element model results was conducted. The main content is presented below:1. T-type joint were designed and created, eight nodes with different,and2γwere tested under cyclic quasi-static loading, applying force to the end of the listto get hysteretic behavior of the joint.2. Due to the experimental results, eight T-type joints under cyclic loading wereanalyzed. Main relationships–hysteretic curve, skeleton curve, failuremechanism, deformation capacity, load-carrying capacity, energy dissipation, and stiffness decay etc. Test results showed that T-type joint has good energydissipation ability and high carrying capacity.3. Experiment results were compared with FEM model, simulation with realgeometrical dimensions and material parameters were carried out, test resultsand FEM simulation results were compared. Achieved results confirm reliabilityof FEM simulation.
