Distributed generation technologies are becoming one of researchhotspots worldwide due to the comparative advantages including clean andefficient, secure and flexible as well as the peak shaving characteristics.With the rapid development of DG nowadays, its penetration in the powersystem will also increasing dramatically as the useful supplement totraditional centralized power generation, which also brings greateropportunities and challenges to the operation of power system. Therefore,on the basis of analysis of DG output characteristics and its response to price,a more elastic, multi-dimensional grid optimization strategy is proposed inthe open electricity market environment. The main innovations and contentsare as follows:1) Firstly, the unit output characteristics of DGs especially thoserenewable energy generations are focused, and then the DG output and loadprofile taking prediction error into consideration are simulated by adoptingMonte-Carlo method, last but not the least, the model for grid-connectedoutput considering DG’s response to price is put forward.2) Secondly, operation cost model of the grid including both the mainand reserve energy market for a distribution company with high penetrationof DG connected is presented, which is respectively from the perspective ofmacroscopic grid operation optimization and the microscopic respondstrategies of the users. Moreover, the grid operation optimization model isput forward considering the DGs’response to real-time price, therefore, thesolution by PSO algorithm to the double optimization model will achieve amore economic operation for the power system.3) Finally, traditional power suppliers and DG operators are encouraged to participate the direct purchase transaction by takingadvantage of the gradual open market of the demand side in this paper, thebenefits of the market players which are involved in direct purchasetransaction are analyzed by established models. Furthermore, the impacts ofdirect purchase transaction to change of the market clearing price andgenerators’grid-connected output are carefully researched.The above proposed strategies are validated by several examples to befeasible and economic. This research will have some reference and guidelinemeanings to coordinate the benefits between DGs and grid, as well as thegrid and users, which will also enhance the competitive advantages of DGin the future.
