As a very key part in automobile powertrain system, transmission’s durability, stability, and NVH performance all have critical significance for vehicle’s quality andperformance. When the transmission is running, all of its transfer parts and supportparts are suffering huge loads, which will make the transfer parts deform and deviatefrom the original position even be damaged. Meanwhile, manufacturing defects ofparts and error of assembly also will influence the working precision and quality ofthe transmission. Therefore, analyzing and optimizing the loading status is aneffective way to improve transmission’s quality and performance. With the test methods and standards of transmission performance becomingmore matured, and the development of computer simulation, the accuracy oftransmission force analyzing and the way to improve working precision are alldeveloping rapidly. This study firstly assess the design reliability, working stability and durabilitythrough analyzing the loading status of manual transmission’s main parts, includinggears, shafts and casings. On the base of force analysis, validate the lifecycle andNVH performance etc. using bench test and vehicle test. Per gear mesh test for therelated gears to analyze the noise issue occurred in vehicle test, and determined anoptimized design of gears through profile modification and transmission errorcalculating. Then make a new run of vehicle test using the manufactured parts tovalidate that the new design is effective in optimizing working precision and NVHperformance, and finalized a method to improve the working precision and quality oftransmission.
