To fit the national economic growth, State Grid proposed a "strong smart grid"plan, and the digitalization and intellectualization becomes the key to this plan.Confronted with new requirements, smart substations are essential in thedevelopments of smart grid, and the information recording and networkcommunication technologies have been the key elements.This work studies the communication messages of smart substation through theanalysis of network communication, as well as recording and analysis of smartsubstation information:a) Aiming at the character of information structure of smart substation, wecarried out a light splitting to the relevant information in the smart substation throughpassive optical technology. Keeping the secondary device’s access to information, weextracted a fraction of signal from the original communication light signal formonitoring, avoiding the inconsistency between the signals from switch monitoringand those from point-to-point transmission.b) Aiming at the detection of the synchronization of merged units, we usedcommunication surveillance technology to access different merged unitssimultaneously, while recording and monitoring all sampling value information thatare issued by the merged units accessed; analyzed the waveform of sampled messagesand the time difference between the sampling values from the same position of allmerged unit, which enabled us to implement the synchrony test of merged units.c) Aiming at the consistency test of the merged units waveforms, we usedpassive optical technology and signal transmission surveillance technology to carryout a light splitting to the input signals of merged units. Meanwhile we monitored theisolated input signal and the output signal, then drew the corresponding samplingvalue waveform for comparison: on the one hand to check the consistency of thewaveform of both ends, on the other hand to calculate the convert delay of mergedunits so as to assess the availability of merged units.d) Aiming at the analysis of communication recording information, we convertedthe communication recording information to fault recording files, namelyCOMTRADE files, and then provided them to the professional recording tools for detailed analysis.
