Design For Traction Substation Fault Recorder Based On IEC61850

Traction power system failure will affect the normal operation of electrified railway. Installing the fault recorder to traction substation can record the variation of electrical data of traction power system. It is very significant to analyze the cause of fault and evaluate the performance of relay protection device.At the first, the characteristics of the traction power system have been analyzed, the digital developments of the traction substation have been taken into account. Then considering the characteristics of the traction substation, the starting method of fault recorder have been designed, self-starting criterions has been focus on design.based on IEC61850a design scheme for fault recorder to traction substation have been proposed in this paper, and the whole design includes hardware design and software design. According to the software design, a fault recording software has been presented with VC, datagram receiving and storage, datagram analysis, judgment for recording, management to setting value, query of historical file and data communication have been realized with that software. A recording analysis software have been put forward with Delphi which realized recording analysis and data communication. The fault recorder software are composed by the fault recording software and the recording analysis software.Finally, based on RTDS the traction transformer and feeder model have been built and the traction transformer fault and the feeder fault have been simulated to test the fault recorder software self-starting. The test result is that the fault recording software can start to record and create recording file with the traction transformer fault and the feeder fault, the recording analysis software can display waveform, analyze harmonic and phase. The test shows that the fault recorder has been designed.
