With the rapid development of economy and the improvement of industry, the shortageof energy becomes more and more serious. Higher request on efficiency use of electricitywas put forward by people. Reactive power compensation devices, which have quickcompensation speed and high precision, can realize slide regulation from capacitive toinductive circuit, and suppress the voltage flicker situation, power grid system failure andover current, over voltage, as well as three-phase imbalance problems. By this way toimprove gird voltage quality and the efficiency of power transmission, the stability of thesystem, the power factor of load side. To reduce the voltage loss and voltage drop in thetransmission process has seemed imminent.Flexible alternative current transmissionsystems(FACTS) is important to making a reasonable distribution network, theconstruction of smart gird, the decrease on lines transmission loss and cost. As the newgenerate reactive compensation devices, Static Var Generator(SVG) is a parallel typeequipment which depends on power electronic technology. Static reactive power generatoris also called dynamic reactive power compensation device, or static synchronouscompensator.This subject has studied the reactive power compensation system based onSVG.. As an advanced device, SVG has high regulation speed and wide range of application.Its output reactive current has low harmonic. It was widely used in power quality controlfiled,because its compact construction and low cost.Fist of all, the operating principle of SVG has been given. The SVG mathematicmodel has been set up based on the equivalent circuit diagram.And the direct currentcontrol strategy and indirect current control strategy was described.Then, different reactivepower detection method has been discussed and compared. This subject focused oninstantaneous reactive power detection methods. To consider the disadvantages of openloop control system, the control strategy of current and voltage double feedback controlsystem was chosen. According to the theoretical basis, the hardware construction ofcompensation system was designed. The overall design diagram was given. Then, theTMS320F2812chip of TI company was chosen as the control core. After the type selectionand references calculation of main circuit elements, the signal preprocess circuit was designed. Analyze the PLL phase locking loop technology and construction diagram. usingMATLAB built up all parts of the compensation system and whole devices. The simulationresults show the feasibility of the whole compensation system.
