In the relevant research on the wind power generation technology, since there areseveral factors such as weather, environmental, cost, etc., the direct use of the windturbine is difficult in experimental study. For one thing, the wind turbine installation costis easy to be high according to its size; for another, the normal laboratory environment isdifficult to simulate real or illusion of wind conditions. Therefore, the development oflaboratory simulation of wind turbine platform is necessary, namely the use of thecontrollable motor instead of real wind turbine and featured with its characteristics in therange of wind speed sequence, to provide same power to the generation system. Focusedon the torque feature of wind turbine, and with the help of vector control, the static anddynamic characteristic was analyzed and studied.The wind turbine model was established on the aerodynamic principles of real windturbine, which is the relationship between current wind speed, wind turbine’s torque andits rotational speed. On this basis, the paper discussed large wind turbine inertiasimulation by detecting the acceleration speed to compensate the torque command, andfinally achieved the same speed change with that of the real wind turbine.This paper selected the asynchronous motor as the prime motor of the platform,applied the rotor oriented vector control methods and mixed voltage-current flux observerto achieve torque control for asynchronous motor, and designed controllers based onclassical control theory. The performance of controllers was tested and verified on asimulation model.Meanwhile a platform consisting permanent magnet synchronous motor and the saidinduction motor were developed and studied. The user interface software was based onLabVIEW, with several functions embedded. This paper built the simulation model ofwind turbine generation system on the software “Plecs” and the simulation resultsshowed the expected characteristics. The experimental results show good validity andaccuracy of the said method.
