In recent years, our country has invested a lot of money in the field of engineeringconstruction. In the construction process of the project we encountered many problems ofslope engineering. Although the research on the problem of slope stability has been quite along time, the study of the horizontal stratified soil slope is relatively sparsely. However, thereare many slopes of this make in reality. Therefore, to study the horizontal stratified soil slopeis of practical significance in engineering construction.On the basis of the summaries of the related research status and the analysis method ofslope stability after collecting many research materials about the horizontal stratified soilslope, the main content and technical route of this research are proposed. Many respects of thehorizontal stratified soil slope, such as the working properties, failure mechanism, and thefactors affecting the displacement and the ultimate bearing capacity, are studied by combiningwith the indoor model test and the numerical simulation analysis method. The failuremechanism which is got from the indoor model test has carried on the theoretical derivationby using the upper bound theory of limit analysis. Finally, the results of the indoor model test,the results of numerical simulation and the theoretical calculation results are compared andanalyzed. The results of my research are as follows:The first, the operational process based on the model experiment which could bereferenced for this type of model experiment is established. This paper has given thecharacteristic of deformation, the destroy mechanism and the arc-straight line sliding surfaceof the horizontal stratified soil slope under different load.The second, according to the analysis of different working conditions, the arc-straightline sliding surface which is got from the indoor model test is verified by using the numericalsimulation analysis method. The variation rule of the slope displacement and the ultimatebearing capacity of the horizontal stratified soil slope that is impacted under the influencefactors such as different layer thickness, different layer number, different height of fill,different slope rate, different load range, different mechanical parameters of the layers are studied.The third, based on the principle of upper bound theory of limit analysis, the velocityfields of the failure mode with the arc-straight line sliding surface of the horizontal stratifiedsoil slope are established. The formula is deduced for calculating the ultimate bearing capacity.According to the corresponding failure mode, the ultimate bearing capacity values areobtained. Finally, by comparing the calculated results to the experiment and the numericalstimulation, the result show that the upper bound theory of limit analysis is of reference valuein this field.
