Research On The Emotionalized Design Of Bus She Lters-a Public Utility In Modern City

Cities are the core areas of social and economic activities for us modernpeople. While those urban public utilities, which are significant tools in people’spublic life, enrich and improve the quality of urban landscape as well as people’sliving life. They play an important role in coordinating the relationship betweenpeople and environment as well as human relations. As an environmental facility,the bus shelter is a media for people interacting with space.Therefore, the busshelter was developed into a diversified canopy structure with functions of keepingout of wind, having a rest and providing safety from the one with only singledirective function at the very beginning. With the booming of the experienceeconomy, people don’t require the only material demand anymore but more mentaland emotional demand instead. Advocating low-carbon lifestyle with great effort atpresent, people are encouraged to taking bus as the major transportation means.Then those corresponding ancillary facilities of bus should also be changed.Andthe function of bus shelters should be perfected and humanized as the mostessential facility.We have to lead the changes in people’s lifestyle and societyfrom the design of bus shelters, which satisfies the emotional and psychologicaldemand.Thus come into being the research on emotionalized design of bus sheltersin modern cities.This thesis aims to analyze the connotation,basic constitution and the theoryof emotionalized design of bus shelters. Starting from human beings withemotions,this paper establishes the theory of emotionalized design of bus sheltersand explores the methods of it,promoting the sustainability and adaptability ofrapid innovation of the designing scheme of bus shelters and the cognitivesatisfaction from citizens.Based on a great amount of data, this paper takes the technical route to probesystematically and results in some extended elements and functions of bus shelters,comprehensively adopting literature research method, case study method andsystem analysis method and some other study methods.The designing functions ofbus shelters are as follows: openness, ndividuality, comprehensiveness andpopularity. The thesis analyzes the current design of domestic bus shelters and putsforward the existing problems of them: with only space without sites, lacking ofidentifiability and sense of belonging, more advertisements than cultural elements;it also proposes the developmental trend of emotionalized design of bus shelters. This thesis probes and concludes the connotation of emotion andemotionalized design.Combined with the theory of emotionalized design of Pro.Norman, cognitive psychologists in United States, that is, the design in theinstinctive level,in the behavioral level and in the reflectional level,it constructsthe theory of emotionalized design of bus shelter in cities.Moreover,it sums theprinciples of emotionalized design of bus shelters.Helped by some cases,it analyzesthe application of the theory of emotionalized design in bus shelters.In this waycan those designers conceives bus shelters in line with emotional and psychologicaldemand of citizens rapidly from multiple perspectives.
