This thesis a focuses primarily on risk identification, analysis, and evaluationassociated with the proposed Otc aviation kerosene pipeline at Guangzhou BaiyunInternational Airport. In order to minimize potential risk and loss and achievemaximize profit, risk research was completed on the pipeline design, construction andoperation management.The author uses a number of different methodologies to arrive at a risk analysis.These include currently preferred investigative methods for risk identification. Asafety check list was utilized for qualitative analysis and item by item checking. Aquantitative analysis for the entire pipeline was completed. An Analog Method wasalso used to investigate accidents/failures at similar pipelines and draw the “accidenttree” to determine the principal danger factors. Kent pipeline risk evaluation was alsoused to determine the pipeline routing according to population density along thepipeline, soil conditions, and geological factors.The thesis analyzes the aviation kerosene pipeline alignment, construction,corrosion prevention, pipeline materials, road-crossings, layout, transportation processand equipment, power distribution and electrical safety, drainage and fire, HVAC,instrumentation, automation, and telecommunications.Throught the research, it can be drown that several factors shall be taken intoaccount to decrease risk. These include precise pipeline alignment and layout;reliable corrosion prevention; processes and equipment that meet the related codesand standards; advanced automation systems, reliable utilities systems, and effectivesafety operation management.The risk control research makes it aware that the project risks exist from thebeginning, lays a solid foundation for smooth project implementation, and providestheoretical and practical guidance for safe pipeline operation, management, andmaintenance.
