The rapid development of the city makes many built city land has been almostsaturated. It needs new land to support the city’s growing population. As thecontradiction between population and land is increasingly aggravating, thegrowing-type of cities has been by centralization “content-type” development graduallyinto being with centrifugal diffusion “extensive” development. Based on this, thecountry is focusing on the study of new urbanization road to achieve urban and ruralplanning, production city one, harmonious, sustainable development.With the rapid development of people’s living environment and the transportationmore convenient, the development of residential district continue to prompting advancecity new district and suburb area where the environment is better. And most of theseareas are in mountainous or hilly terrain, which are lack of surrounding facilities.Therefore this kind of residential district must have formed a certain scale in order toachieve matching the corresponding service facilities required to create economies ofscale and unique landscape of residential district environment to attract urban residents.In this context, a number of large urban fringe of mountain settlements are appearing.Because of its large scale and higher ecological sensitivity, that will have an importantimpact on the regional development and the city spatial pattern.The development modeof residential development will form a demonstration effect on the large mountain inthe future.In view of this, this article attempts to stand in the height of city development, takethe large mountain residential district in Guangdong city fringe area for an example.Separating from various aspects, such as the characteristic of large mountainsettlements in Fringe areas, the formation of the driving mechanism, a specific type ofmountain should be development or not, the theoretical foundation of developing,location and land use, the delineation of the scope of section land, ecological andlivable, facilities, mountain culture inheritance and disaster prevention and mitigationaspects to explore new urbanization under the background of city development and landdevelopment strategy. Then take the example of my own participation in Guangdong fringe area to make research. Through multi-angle analysis and summary to ofer somepractical advice for governments, developers, designers, residents and other participants.And Provide a reference for the future development of similar mountain settlements.
