In this paper, a kind of semi-rigid asphalt pavement structure based on hotmixed stress absorption interlayer is put forward for cold regions, which was usedfor the settlement of semi-rigid asphalt pavement reflection cracks and waterdamage problems. Stress absorption interlayer, as a function layer, can resolvewaterproofing and anti-cracking problems, and thin the thickness of the asphaltpavement at the same time to reduce the cost. The thickness of road bases may bethickened to meet the requirements of the design deflection.Based on the summary of the experience at home and abroad and laboratorytest results, the mixture design method of stress absorption interlayer was proposed.Taking into account the film thickness playing the important role in the mixturedesign, in order to calculate the asphalt film thickness of STC exactly, the new filmcomposition model is established, the calculation formula using statistics geometrytheory is given, and a new concept named isolating membrane is bring forwarded.Through analyzing the result of laser granularity instrument, it is indicated that theformula can reflect the influence of filler type sensitively. After testing the mixturecompacted with SGC, it is provedthe computed result with new formula is precisethan result with regulation in using, and the result can reflect the influence ofcompaction impression. So the film thickness and optimum asphalt content ofmixture can be calculated with the new formula, which have important applicationvalue.The actual project was constructed in order to verify the performance of thesystem of stress absorption interlayer, and the construction technology, constructonorganization, quality management and inspection standards for acceptance of stressabsorption interlayer were summarized on the basis of construction experience andpost-construction observations.
