UTAC,a new type of road material, derived from France in 1980s'. Due to its excellent performance on the functions of water-resist, noise-abate, and slip-prevent, it has been widely accepted in the abroad and applied preliminary in our country.Based on the state of art of asphalt concrete pavement and the application of UTAC in road engineering at home and abroad, this thesis considers the characteristics of Wuhan as an important transportation hub which have high requirements for pavement functions. In order to meet the requirements of pavement indices in technology and economy, road materials and structure forms which are compatible to the geography and climate features of Wuhan are indentified through a study on the pavement materials and structures. Besides, it ensures that the high-grade roads with this structure form bear the outstanding ability of slip-prevent and water-resist. It can also effectively reduce the occurrence rate of early road-broken phenomena and extend the life span of the road in order to save the expense of road maintenance.This thesis looks into the application circumstance of UTAC in Wuhan urban road high-level traffic road through combining indoor experiment and practical projects. During the indoor experiment process, we used the composite specimen, which can reflect the structure characteristics more thoroughly, as our experiment object. While in practical projects, we have made a construction constraint on experiment road which locates on Wuhan WQ3 Road and a long period observation on it after it's opening to traffic. We have done experiments on the indicators, such as flatness,water penetration,friction coefficient and so forth, which have great influences on the road performances. Besides, we have analyzed the mechanical property such as flexure and bending tensile stress of multiple kinds of asphalt pavement structure through ANSYS software simulation to evaluate the advantages of UTAC consequently.To conclude, we've found that the composite specimen consisting of UTAC pavement is excellent on track-resist, water-resist and superior to other structures on mechanical properties such as flexure and bending tensile stress. Considering the advantages it severs on practical usage, this road structure is recommended to be widely adopted in the vast area of central China.
