The subject of this dissertation is the expansion of Mudanjiang to Harbinhighway which is a secondary road built in1997. With the proliferated traffic andthe vehicle’s load-carrying ability proliferated, the damage to the pavementstructure increased. Now the road cannot meet the “unobstructed, comfortable andsafe” requirements. Many times small and middle scale repair and maintenance cannot solve the road’s decreased usage fundamentally. Therefore, from Mudanjiang toHarbin secondary highway (this section belongs to SuiMan Highway) is necessaryto conduct a thorough overhaul in order to improve driving conditions. This thesis uses road damage PCI, road roughness RQI and skid resistance IRIthree factors to evaluate the pavement performance, and combines with FWD pavedeflection and GPR, the paper investigates the pumping area below cement concretepave slab, thus comprehensively assesses the service and usage of Mu-Ha highway. With the combination of the pavement coring, the paper analyses the causes of thedamage of the road, thus find the optimal maintenance and repair scheme. Finally, the thesis designs and calculates the overlaying of asphalt concrete according to“the Specifications of Cement Concrete Pavement Design for Highway”, todetermine the pavement structural scheme.According to the above research conclusion, the thesis gets the Mu-Ha highway’soverhaul scheme: the road sections with average deflection value <20(0.01mm),GPR anomaly average void depth<3mm, PCI>80can directly overlaid with asphaltconcrete; the road sections with average deflection value≥20(0.01mm), GPRanomaly average void depth≥3mm,70<PCI≤80should beat-crack, stabilized andthen overlaid with asphalt concrete; the road sections with average deflection value≥20(0.01mm), GPR anomaly average void depth≥3mm, PCI≤70shouldexcavate the layer and the upper base, repave and then covered with asphaltconcrete; The structure of the paved asphalt concrete should have40mm surfacelayer SMA, and with60mmSBS sub-base.
