This thesis is based on the standard algorithm, studies and analyzes the bending andtorque strength, shear strength and deck support components and binding reinforcement ringof a multi-purpose vessel(MPV), and constructs the FE model by using MSC FE software toanalyze stress distribution and deformation law of this ship under different workingconditions, and analyzes the heavy crane base structure, studies and discusses hulldeformation analysis method of this kind ships with large openings and heavy cranes,andtakes an example for a newly28,000-DWT multi-purpose vessel with heavy crane which isdeveloped by Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co.Ltd.(NACKS)as example forresearch. The main content and the conclusions are as follows:(1) Study on MPV ships structure with heavy cranes. This thesis summarizes up thebasic structure of the ship’s characteristics, including longitudinal and shear strength, based onthe special characteristics of this vessel such as carrying special general cargo, with largeopening cargo hold and provided with heavy crane fitted on one side of the ship; And focuseson the double deck recess and D-ring strength by FEM analysis to ensure the design safety.(2) The cabin section based on FE software MSC/PATRAN is established. Differentloading working condition and loading condition are calculated and studied respectively.According to LR’s rules and regulations, yield and buckling strength in different workingconditions, deformation and stress distribution of the main components on the hull inequivalent wave are obtained for the structure design of the whole ship. Meanwhile, for heavycrane base by the finite element analysis, considering the actual crane operation parametersload conditions, different load conditions, the stress and deformation confirmed, ensure thatthe heavy crane base of operating conditions to meet all kinds of strength requirement.(3) Study on the deformation of hull construction for large opening cargo hold typevessels, expatiated the analysis model configure method, defined the boundary condition andthe optimized loading condition of calculation model, finally calculated the deformation valuefor this vessel.
