| In recent years, due to uncertainty of world trade and fluctuation of ocean shipping situation, shipping markets need a kind of ship which is able to carry "uncertainty cargo". It can adapt to a variety of shipping lines, as efficiently as possible to carry a variety of goods to fit the changing circumstance.Multi-purpose vessel is such a ship that can carry groceries, bulk cargo, containers, heavy-lift cargo and roll loadings. To facilitate the loading and uploading course of this kind of ship, there is usually a cargo handling arranged at one side of ship. This kind of designing reduce the port loading and unloading time, create an increase of the rate of the ship sailing time and improve economic efficiency. Here, multi-purpose vessel with heavy cranes at one side of it is called heavy lift carrier.With the carrying out of the solas.2009, the standard for ship's damage stability is higher than before. Especially to the large opening single cargo ship, more limitation is met with in designing. It even needs some special arrangement. Taking a large opening single cargo ship for example, this article describes the designing progress and especially does some calculation on the probabilistic damage stability. Through discussing the feasibilities of different designing plans, we get the common designing manner of these large opening cargo ships which are restricted by probabilistic damage stability.To ensure that the ship is safe during loading and unloading task, Chapter VII of national regulation stipulated the qualification of stability when loading and unloading task. In this paper, a heavy lift carrier with a floating box is analyzed to find the way to meet the stability requirements, as well as the right way to choose and use a pontoon. |
