As the main transport vehicle of the large-scale open-air mine project, The production and sales volume of mining dump truck show a steady growth trend with the rapid development of the national economy. As the main force bearing and power transmission parts of vehicle, the working environment of drive axle housing of mine car is very bad. According to the Road conditions, It’s always under cyclic loading and impact loading in the service process and it’s easy to have the serious distortion and the break, so it is necessary to have a reasonable structure design of the bridge.4This topic takes a unit in the design of mining truck drive axle housing as research object, applying finite element method to the design of axle the static and dynamic characteristics and fatigue life of three checked to analyze the design of the bridge shell whether satisfies the corresponding structure request and using the topology optimization method to make the lightweight improvement for the bridge shell based on the results of the analysis at the same time. The concrete content is as follows:(1)According to the driving axle housing of a two-dimensional drawings provided by the company to establish the three-dimensional model of bridge shell;(2)Establishing driving axle corresponding finite shell element model in ANSYS software. Analyzing the effect of mesh size on analysis results of axle housing in order to select the appropriate mesh size to finite element model in the establishment of finite element model;(3)Analyzing the static strength, stiffness and dynamic characteristics of the bridge shell according to the special conditions of the drive bridge shell, The analysis results showed that the design of axle housing can meet the requirements of static strength and dynamic characteristics;(4)Analyzing the fatigue life of the bridge shell in the ANSYS workbench software, the analysis results showed that the design of the axle housing to meet the national standards for the design of the bridge shell;(5)Based on topology optimization and size improvement to take the lightweight design of the bridge shell and analyze the performance of the improved bridge shell, the analysis results showed that it can meet the requirements corresponding technical strength in the situation of the improved bridge shell reducing weight 10.5%.Through the analysis of the bridge shell structure and lightweight improvement, under the condition of meeting the strength requirements, it reduces the quality of the bridge shell and also has important engineering significance and provides practical reference for optimization of vehicle structure.
