Barrel is an important part of the artillery. The quality of the barrel bore is one of the key factors affecting the performance of artillery. The artillery barrel detection is essential in artillery maintenance and support and has been a hotspot in the detection technology. In artillery bore detection systems, CCD imaging technology is often used to get cannon barrel image. However, the existing detection systems have deficiencies in operation and quantities analysis. How to obtain more comprehensive and accurate useful information of the barrel has become a focus in the artillery bore detection field. In this paper, a new artillery bore detection system based on laser scanning method is proposed. By processing the test data, panoramic three-dimensional profile of the gun barrel bore can be acquired and quantitative depth data of the inner surface can be obtained. Firstly, by learning the bore structure, analyzing the requirements of the bore detection and studying the advantages and disadvantages of the existing systems, the overall structure of system is built. Secondly, the three-dimensional detection program is designed and the laser displacement sensor is selected according to the principle of laser triangulation and the features of barrel. Thirdly, the flow of control is optimized, and the design and implementation of electromechanical subsystem has been completed. Finally, cloud data is obtained by experimental studies, and then the three-dimensional contour image of gun bore is achieved by the subsequent data processing.Using this gun bore detection system, the three-dimensional contour image of the inner surface is accessed and the valid data is provided for further quantitative analysis. In this system, the laser displacement sensor is first used in artillery barrel detection. Such an attempt not only enriches the artillery barrel detection techniques, but also provides reference for more comprehensive quantitative detection of the bore.
