The thermal radiation environment of urban residential districts plays a very important role in urban local climate. Improving the radiation environment of residential districts, not only can effectively improve urban local climate and mitigate the urban heat island, but also can improve the comfort of living environment and reduce the urban energy consumption. At present, the studies about influences between radiation environment of residential districts and urban local climate have not gone further. Moreover, the researches are lack of quantitative analysis and simple design methods. In this paper, a numerical simulation has been conducted for influences between thermal radiation environment of residential districts and urban local climate adaptation under solar radiation. This simulation, based on the meteorological background of summer hot climate in south China, has built up a simulated model of typical residential districts in Guangzhou region. By computational fluent dynamics software Fluent, the finite volume method was used. This study considered the condition of solar radiation has been focus on the two aspects:effects of residential road-roadbed system on ambient atmosphere and effects of building density and albedo on urban local climate. In addition, this study also used a 3D CFD model including residential buildings, roads and ambient air. According to the comparison about results of different conditions, the influences between radiation environment of residential districts and urban local climate adaptation are discussed in this paper. The results in this study are summarized on the following aspects:The solar radiation has an important effect on local climate of urban residential districts. Computed results indicate that the temperature on concrete pavement is impacted by the solar radiation significantly, and the atmospheric temperature falls down in geometric series with the increasing distance to ground. However, the effect of pavement on the temperature of ambient air beyond the near-ground region becomes much gentle. The changes of radiation environment impact the urban local climate. The high density of buildings results in higher average temperature of road in residential districts, and the outdoor and indoor air temperature increase. The higher albedo of road results in lower road temperature. And the temperature of outdoor air in the pedestrian level slightly reduces while the indoor air temperature improves. It is suggested that reducing the density of buildings or using low albedo materials on road in high density districts and poor ail flow regions can improve the thermal radiation environment and modulate urban local climate.
