With the development of the internet of things technology, the intelligent building, which is one direction of the development and applications of the internet of things technology, is developing rapidly. With its good interactivity,openness and adaptability, KNX protocol has developed into the world’s only international standard in the building automation field. and has become one of the global race to develop the building automation technology.In China, the research and application of KNX technology are in the primary stage. In recent years, some domestic related institutes and companies have been conducting the research of KNX technology and the development of KNX product in the system integration and application. But the research of KNX protocol and underlying development is rare. At present, the BCU of domestic KNX product still relies on import. The high cost of KNX products is keeping prices up. Developing the KNX stack with independent intellectual property rights, and breaking through the bottleneck of KNX core technology, have a practical significance for the promotion and application of KNX technology in China.On the basis of the deep study of KNX communication core, the development of the KNX BAU is completed, and a dimming actuator and a lighting control terminal based on KNX protocol are also developed. The main work of this paper can be summarized as follows:(1) The in-depth study of KNX system architecture, network topology,communication model and OSI structure model are given. The role of group address in the KNX communication and the relationship between the address table, association table and communication object table are analyzed in detail.Moreover, the service primitive, service interfaces and parameters of each layer of the KNX protocol are described at great length, and the design and implementation methods of each layer are also completed.(2) On the basis of the comprehensive understanding of KNX protocol, thein-depth study of KNX communication core is conducted. Base on the detailed analysis of the hardware demand of KNX communication core, the design scheme, which is using the 8 bit low cost single-chip as the hardware core of communication core, is put forward, and the development of KNX BAU is achieved. In addition, the design of the service primitives and interfaces of each layer of KNX communication is described in detail.(3) The design of dimming actuator which has the function of dimming control, scene control and switch control are completed, including the design of hardware, application, database and functional test. And the development process of KNX node devices is described detailedly.(4) Based on the BAU which has been developed and the analysis of demand for KNX application terminal, the design scheme which takes Cortex-M3 as the core and takes ATMEGA64 as the communication core is put forward, and the design of the hardware and software of lighting control terminal are accomplished. The software design, which is based on the uc/OS-II operation system, embedded the uc/GUI graphical interface system, and that provides convenience for the design of man-machine interface. Finally, The test of the function and performance of lighting control terminal is accomplished.(5) The KNX test system, which includes the dimming actuator and lighting control terminal, is set up. By setting parameters and group addresses, the lighting control terminal’s control for dimming actuator is achieved. And the overall functions of the dimming actuator and lighting control terminal are tested,which include switch control, dimming control, brightness control, scene control and so on. At the same time, the integrity, stability and reliability of KNX communication core which has been developed is further verified by analyzing the bus message.
