Unipolar linear motor is a kind of motor which its armature conductive parts always working in a single polarity magnetic field. It is a kind of motor which has low voltage, large current and no commutator. The brush of the motor just leads to introducing current. This motor dosen’t have commutation problems, and the armature is a copper ring without insulation, the calorific value is smaller than the rotary motor, coupled with the motor has simple structure, easy to maintenance and high reliability, which is superior to the performance of traditional motor. Therefore, we selected the unipolar motor as our topic, made the simulation and experimental research on it.First, the paper introduced the status of the unipolar motor’s development, based on the characteristics of structural and the operation principle of unipole motor, made the simplified calculation electromagnetic field model, used ANSOFT 15.0 which using the three-dimensional finite element model for unipolar motor electromagnetic simulating. Validating variety of unipolar linear motor and unipolar rotary motor, analyzing the mechanism of the electric magnetic force and magnetic circuit structure.Secondly, according to the simulation model of unipole motor, analyzed the different topology structure and the electromagnetic field distribution characteristics of the motor. Researched how the structure parameters influenced the performance of motor, simulated a variety of patent motor model that focus on the thrust of unipolar motor, the relationship between driving force and the current, the structure of gathering magnetic, electromagnetic shielding. Also simulated the moving iron type and moving coil type single-stage dc motor for researching the magnetic force produced by positioning and excitation coils. Considering that add iron coil stator unipolar linear motor can not achieve effective movement.Thirdly, through the long pole with iron core type unipolar dc linear motor to convert the topology concluded a coreless moving coil type unipole motor, the simulation results show that it can produce continuous thrust, can realize effective movement, has further research value.
