Analysis Of Public Transit Passenger Flow Based On Bus IC Card Data In Chengdu

The passenger flow feature in one urban public transport system can be used to analyses the spatio-temporal situation about the urban resident who holds bus IC card, forecast the passenger demand and support the urban public transport system optimization and real time scheduling. It is a cornerstone of upgrading the city public transport system. It will be more accurate, comprehensive and feasible to present passenger flow feature by bus IC card data than before.This paper takes Chengdu urban public transport system as the research object. The results of the study base on the Chengdu bus IC card consumption data. First, a new model for estimating the passenger boarding stop is presented. This model can be used to estimate all the boarding stops of passengers who get on the same bus at the same bus trip. Second, the model will be expanded to estimate the passenger boarding stop of the whole day in one route. Finally, this method is used to estimate all the boarding stops of passengers who get on the major routes in one day. And the boarding flow feature of all the stops is presented.The MATLAB 7.13 software is used to handle the data and realize the program. This research includes three sections, as follows.First, the research about estimating passenger boarding stops. The basic information about these major names of routes, names of stops and the longitude and latitude of stops in Chengdu city will be collected in this section. Then the model for estimating passenger boarding stops will be founded by the way of clustering analysis method based on the passenger boarding time series. Then the data about the real boarding passenger information is collected manually by the way of following the bus on the route.Second, the research about the passenger flow feature on one route. This section presents the differentiation and periodic fluctuation of the passenger flow in the time dimension.Third, the research about the passenger flow feature of public transport stops. This section presents the passenger flow feature of stops on the major routes at different time. And the passenger boarding flow feature of all the stops at the same time.
