The shiplift is an important kind of navigation structures. As one of the important types, the launching vertical shiplift has the advantages in characteristics of dynamics and statics, The wire rope hoist vertical shiplifts in the hydroprojects are usually divided into two types:the hoist shiplifts and the full balanced hoist shiplifts. According to actual needs of the navigation requirements, passenger ships is one of the main types to be transported. So the safety must be an important indicator during the design period. In this paper, we take the successful construction—the Three Gorges Shiplift as our background, try to study the scheme of the fully weight balanced cable lifted vertical shiplift. According to the nature of the research objects, we divide the whole shiplift system into many objects, including the chamber, the water and the suspension system We study them alone and then coupled them together to build the mechanical model of the entire structure of shiplift system. In order to construct the coupling system model, the following works have been done:Firstly, we introduce the related theory, parameters and algorithm a of the ALE method, and we try to build the N-S equation considering the viscous term of the water in chamber and give its boundary conditions. Derive the kinetic equations of fluid inside the chamber and use the finite element method to discrete it.Then we use the theory of rigid body kinematics and rigid body dynamics to build the kinetic equation of the chamber, then combine it with the kinetic equations of fluid to build the kinetic equations of the chamber-water coupled system. On this basis, calculate the dynamic response of the water under different incentives. When the frequencies of external excitation close to the natural frequency, the water will have a significant sloshing. At last we build the kinetic equation of the lifting system and then add it into the chamber-water coupled system to get the kinetic equations of the whole shiplift system. According to the he kinetic equations, we calculate the dynamic response of the whole system under some unexpected cases, including the broken of wire ropes and the leakage of water. In these cases, the water does not have a significant sloshing, the main reason is the frequencies are far away from the natural frequency. The theories and methods used in this paper can be applied to the similar lifting system.
