Traditional dwellings are almost with the earliest building types of the birthof human, as an indispensable part of Chinese ancient architecture heritage, ithas variety of forms and it has local characteristics. In the ever-changing moderncircumstances, however, the traditional house of the rich regional culture isdeclining gradually, and the so-called novel, convergence of the building wasconstantly on the rise. Therefore, how to protect and make good use of traditionalresidence with the regional culture characteristics, how to protect the architectureculture which made by the regional culture, these are the very problems that weneed to solve.The coastal of Shandong Province has an unique geographical environmentand rich cultural background,in the past long historical process,it has producedmany kinds of historical traditional dwellings,including Jiaodong peninsula,theshape and yard layout elements in highlights are both have bright regional culturecharacteristics, the most representative is the seaweed house,because it makesgreat significance in protection and utilization for inheriting regional culture,theconstruction of local tourism culture,the continuation of the human livingenvironment sustainability.However,as the rapid development of economy,theseaweed house is facing the destroy from the society,this phenomenon need weput forward the effective methods in protecting the seaweed house.This paper based on the study of traditional local-style dwellinghouses,,traditional houses,made the theoretical summary for the traditionallocal-style dwelling house in building and designing.Through the perspective ofregional culture,the balance of the protection and use of the concept ofsustainable development.The paper lay emphasis on studying the Jiaodongseaweed house,the article in the second chapter analyzes the cultural origin,thethird chapter of straw by regional culture influence,the last paper summarizesthe summarizes the straw at sea protection and utilization of main problems andreasons,in view of the existing problems,list some method in solving theproblems,at the end of paper,put forward to build a Jiaodong peninsula nationalmuseum,the main purpose is to put the seaweed house into the survivalenvironment for the overall protection and utilization,make great hope for thebetter future.
