With the rapid development of economy, all kinds of energy are being consumed so quickly. With the current situation that, non-renewable resources is still a dominant contribution for national economic growth, many countries are considering the development and utilization of various types of renewable energy for the purpose of sustainable development and wind energy has been the principal one, in recent years, human, financial and various R & D resources in the field of wind power of these countries has been in a growth. From recent years’development and worldwide, wind power technology has matured from study. In the field of wind energy research, pitch control is an important aspect, its significance lies on that it ensures constant power output and crew safety of wind turbines, providing high-quality electricity.The paper determine the direction of the subject according to National Natural Science Foundation Project——Research on maximum power tracking and pitch control system of megawatt permanent magnet direct drive wind turbine, cooperated by Inner Mongolia University of Technology and Wan De, Shanghai. The paper research on pitch control strategy and simulate with a 1.5 MW wind turbine from Wan De, Shanghai.Pitch control is the most commonly used method in controlling wind energy absorption of wind turbine. Pitch control system is the most complex operating mechanism of the turbine which is also a key system that will ensure the quality of output electricity power. The system is able to adjust the pitch angle according to wind speed and hardware parameters, keeping the turbine has constant power output through pitch control up the rated wind speed (the rated power point) and this get rid of deficiencies of fixed pitch turbines which regulate power only by blade aerodynamic performance. But, the complexity, highly nonlinear of wind turbine system, adding the instability of wind, result in that the pitch control object will be large disturbance, multivariate, nonlinear and complex conditions, etc. all of these characteristics propose requirements for pitch control strategy.The paper focuses on the pitch control strategy above the rated wind speed, mainly introduces the chaos optimization method to the PID controller parameters optimization with the purpose of self-tuning on the basis of researching pitch control strategy based on traditional PID control method, in order to make up for the insignificance of traditional PID controller which tunes parameters by experiences and experiments. And then program the control strategy by C language, simulating and analyzing the two pitch control strategies through calling DLL file by Bladed, in order to verify the effectiveness of the pitch control strategy based on chaos optimization PID parameters method used in this paper.
