With the rapid development of national economy, power distribution network as the bridge to connected the power system and average user, it’s scale is in constant increase and complicate, and once the faults happen in the distribution network, the longer handle failure will lead to more serious economic loss, so how to manipulate all kinds of fault of the distribution network as soon as possible is a very important problem.The greatness goal of our electric power construction is to build strong smart grid, power distribution network automation technology came with the emergence of the smart grid construction in our country is a very effective way to improve power system reliability and economy.Use communication, computer and sensor technology of distribution automation technology can achieve real-time information quickly upload of the distribution network.Distribution automation technology as the basis of the smart grid, obtained the rapid development in recent years. In dealing with the faults of distribution network, the first thing is how to quickly and accurately find the location of the fault,but the traditional solutions rely on artificial patrol to find fault point will not able to complete the purpose of fault location in a short period of time.The fault location algorithms of distribution network based on distribution automation technology are implementation whit analysis of the distribution network topology structure.So it is very important for the realization of the fault location that analysis and simplify the structure of distribution network topology. Traditional matrix algorithm is based on the faultinformation uploaded by distribution network terminal equipment FTU(Feeder terminal unit),and combined with the network description matrix generation which is used to describe the network topology, and create a fault judgement matrix through a complex changes, the final fault location in accordance with the principle of judgment.But calculation in the process of generate the fault judgement matrix is too trival, This paper proposed a improvement for the traditional matrix algorithm, greatly reduce the computational complexity and improve the operation efficiency of the algorithm, and through the example analysis shows the accuracy of the algorithm.Due to the terminal equipment working in the outdoor environment for a long time, so it is easy to caused fault information uploading loss or distortion, which can cause the final fault location error, aiming at this problem, here proposed algorithm based on correlation principle and the method based on alarm signal contrast to solve.At last design a program algorithm implementation based on Digisilent software and Matlab software. according to the design of distribution automation for pilot area of tianjin city distribution network, and applied in this paper, the proposed algorithm is verified.
