Arch bridge is developing boomingly in recent years, it’s widely used because of its beautiful shape, strong spanning capacity, integrity. Cable is not only an important structure transmission member to the bridge, but also easily damaged. Due to lack of consideration to the durability of the cable, there is serious diseases in many cables which need to be replaced. However, there is no uniform standard procedures guiding the replacement program for the bridge. A large number of cable replacement were operated only by virtue of past experience which lacked theoretical basis. Therefore, it is necessary to do research in replacement of the cable.Taking the cable replacement project as background, this paper studies several key issues, mainly in the following several aspects:firstly, this paper introduces cables, anchors and protection and a safety testing was carried out, according to the test results, the causes of the disease has been found, and then presents a detailed cable replacement plan and monitor plan is carried out; Secondly, this paper establishes an accurate model of the bridge to study the effect of different methods of replacing cable to bridge structure, simulates the process of the bridge cable replacement, and compares with the measured data to provide a theoretical basis for the similar projects; thirdly, according to actual condition, this paper derives vibration frequency calculation formula and calculates the length of the cable by inverse method in order to improve the accuracy of calculation formula of cable tension; Finally, this paper studies dynamic response of the bridge structure while the cable breaks suddenly under normal operating condition and condition of replacing cable.As more and more cable bridges meet their life span, cable replaced study needs more progress. Precise finite element simulation of the replacement process and the cable tension testing can not only provide a theoretical basis for cable replacement, but also a success sign of replacing. Considering the cable fracture accidents occurring frequently, the study of structural dynamic reaction response to the cable suddenly breaking carries great significance. Study of cable replacement key issues in this paper has great theoretical significance tor future similar projects.
